Parking tickets paid through NFT sales.

Now here's a use case for NFTs that we haven't come across before...

Musician Arden Jones is paying off strangers’ parking tickets - and he’s funding it by selling NFTs of his hit song, "Parallel Parking."

Here's how it works:

  • Fans of the song (which has already gone viral racking up 25M+ streams and landing Jones a record deal with Atlantic Records) can buy an NFT of the song for 0.05ETH (~$80USD) on sound.xyz.

  • 99.99% of the money goes to the 'Parallel Parking Fund' to pay off people's parking tickets.

  • Meanwhile, fans submit their unpaid parking tickets to the project via Twitter or Instagram.

  • Jones' team then randomly selects submissions and sends the payment straight to the DMV. Done!

What's this all about?

Yeah look, we know this isn't a story about some new technology that is going to make transactions infinitely cheaper, faster, and more secure.

But we'll be damned if we don't take a moment to admire the marketing prowess shown here.

Parallel Parking has already gone viral - but with this little stunt, ol' Jonesy sure seems to be squeezing more juice out of the lemon.

(E.g. us writing about it right now).

Plus, it's good for the world. Seb gets a parking ticket every second Tuesday when those pesky street cleaners come through. Maybe he'll finally get a reprieve.

Alright, that's it - happy Friday!
