Web3's Captain Planet (remember that show?)

There’s a big ol' conference going on over in Egypt right now - COP27.

It has nothing to do with Web3, and everything to do with climate change.

(Well, almost nothing to do with Web3).

Just yesterday, the team behind CO2oons launched their project with the goal of changing the way people think about, and engage with, the issue of climate change.

Here's our understanding of it:

The team behind CO2oons aim to create Pixar-style film & T.V. properties, to essentially rally folks in the fight against global climate change - by first making the conversation entertaining.

To do so, they're raising funds through an initial NFT release (on Polygon, which is a carbon neutral chain).

The broader concept, when we first learned about it, made zero sense to us.

...but then we had an Oprah-patented 'aha moment':

This is like a 2022 take on Captain Planet (and we ate. that. show. up, as kids).

If you never watched it, it's about these five kids, known as 'The Planeteers,' that go around fighting pollution.

...oh, and they can summon a super hero, known as Captain Planet, using these gemstone rings that they each wear.

Which sounds insane when we read it back to ourselves - but it worked! We were all-in on becoming Planeteers as kids, and it no doubt had a hand in shaping our values long into adulthood.

...so the CO2oons playbook is starting to make a whole lot more sense right now.

Touché, CO2oons. Touché.
