A big problem is now being fixed in the NFT space.

One of the coolest things about NFTs is that creators can program future royalties into them.

So every time one of their NFTs is sold on the secondary market, they get a cut.

...but it turns out this is more of an 'honor system' than it is a hard rule, and some sites are now offering sellers the opportunity to circumvent these creator royalties.

Magic Eden (the go-to marketplace for Solana-based NFTs) is one of these sites.

But now, in a weird twist, Magic Eden is launching the Open Creator Protocol, which it says can enforce creator royalties on Solana NFTs, regardless of where they're sold.

Which is great for creators...and even better for Solana.

Solana's NFT ecosystem has been growing fast. To the extent that on multiple occasions over the past 6 months, there has been more NFT trading taking place on Solana, than Ethereum.

Which is HUGE given the context of time.

Ethereum has been around for seven years (compared to Solana's two), and in that time, ETH has become the foundation for the majority of Web3.

Ethereum already has a similar royalty enforcement system, created by OpenSea, so this will keep things competitive.

Nice!
