A New, Old Way To Interact With Computers

TL;DR

  • Yesterday, The Solana Foundation launched a plugin for ChatGPT to allow you to interact with the Solana network, directly from ChatGPT.

  • We've said it before and we'll say it again, the rise of ChatGPT and similar LLM's doesn't mean people should 'break up' with Web3 and move into AI; instead, it opens up new, exciting opportunities for Web3.

Back before computers are what they are today, in order to interact with them, you basically needed to write code.

(Check out this video of a person making calculations on an Apple II in the 80's).

You still can write commands, but the standard interface seems a helluvalot easier to use for anyone who's not a developer.

Or is it?

Yesterday, The Solana Foundation launched a plugin for ChatGPT to allow you to interact with the Solana network, directly from ChatGPT.

It can be used to buy NFTs, transfer tokens, inspect transactions, interpret public account data and find NFT collections by floor price - all by communicating through ChatGPT.

There are plenty of fancy games and decentralized applications (dApps) that have been built on blockchain technology.

While they may be fun user experiences (and let's not forget that fun is important), perhaps the simplest user interface has been in front of us all along!

(Or at least since the public launch of ChatGPT in Nov, 2022).

We've said it before and we'll harp on it again:

The rise of ChatGPT and similar LLM's doesn't mean people should 'break up' with Web3 and move into AI; instead, it opens up new, exciting opportunities for Web3.

We love to see it!
