A Web3 match made in Heaven.
Unlike Binance and FTX (see above), here are two Web3 companies, which have come together, to make life easier.
A few months ago, we wrote about how the Helium core developers had suggested that it would make more sense to move from its own blockchain, to Solana.
For those wondering, the Helium Network is a bunch of physical wireless hotspots, that anyone can buy and run, and those who do can be rewarded when their hotspot is used.
It was originally created for 'internet of things' devices (i.e. smart watches, smart fridges, smart locks etc.), but there seems to be a more interesting use case on the horizon...
Fast forward to today:
The community has voted to move to Solana, that switch has been flicked, and Solana Labs are about to launch their own physical phone - the Saga...
(See where we’re going with this??)
It was just announced that Saga phones sold in the U.S. will get a 30-day free subscription to Helium Mobile - Helium’s crypto-powered cellular network.
And for any dead spots not covered by Helium’s network of 5G transmitters, they’ve inked a 5 year deal with T-Mobile, who will pick up the slack.
The 30-day free subscription is a CLASSIC business move.
Remember when Amazon did a number on us all, offering their 30-day free Prime Membership, saving us $5 in shipping up front...but costing $14.99 per month after that?
Either way, a Web3 phone, running on a Web3 network is a match made in Heaven.
Two thumbs up, we love to see it.
