Apple, Coinbase, and Flublecranes.
Imagine if an airline all of a sudden barred you from boarding, if you couldn't first show a Flublecrane.
(A Flublecrane is exactly what it sounds like - a gibberish word that we just made up).
Seems stupid, because it is - and right now, there's a similar situation playing out between Apple and Coinbase.
Apple blocked a Coinbase Wallet update from its App Store, because it didn't use Apple’s proprietary In-App Purchase system to pay for crypto-based transaction fees - aka gas fees - when transferring NFTs.
(Apple wants its 30% cut).
...but Apple's In-App Purchase system doesn't accept crypto.
So the task it gave Coinbase was literally impossible to achieve.
BFE (Big Flublecrane Energy).
Now it looks like Apple users will have their NFT assets blocked on their wallets, until the decision changes.
This could just be an oversight on Apple's part, but it's not like the company hasn't handed down/stuck to similar policy judgements in the past.
Seems dumb.
