Full Story
Wow, ok.
So, a few things to note here:
Mainstream crypto advertising might be back.
There might actually be product/market fit here (which is a rarity in Web3).
What're we on about?
The crypto-powered mobile network, Helium, has just been named the Official Wireless Sponsor of University of Miami.
Helium is made up of a network of Wi-fi looking hotspots, that share mobile data and phone signal - all of which are operated by everyday people, who earn crypto tokens for supporting the network.
(And when phone users aren’t within range of a hotspot - Helium taps the T-mobile network).
Working largely outside the existing system like this means Helium can (somehow) offer:
An unlimited, contract-free phone plan for $5 per month.
(Wild right? Unfortunately it's only available in Miami).
And that's where the product/market fit comes in...
Because who hates commitment and loves saving money more than college students?
