In other news…an NFT vending machine just raised money for charity.

It’s been a crazy weekend/week/year (/decade?) in crypto news.

Let's take a breather for a moment and remember there’s still some weird/wonderful innovation happening in the space too.

For example…

Earlier this month, myNFT took the first physical NFT vending machine in Europe to the NFT.London conference.

Selling one NFT every two minutes, and raising £3,900 ($4600 USD) for two different charities.

(Ok, not the craziest haul for charity - but after this past week, we'll jump at any opportunity to get a dose of the warm n' fuzzies).

People would pay £10 using a contactless payment method (like Apple Pay) which would then drop them a QR code. They would scan the code, connect to their wallet, and receive their newly minted NFT worth anything up to £1000.

Is it a groundbreaking application of blockchain technology? No.

Are we about to argue against cool blockchain applications, that donate their profits to charity? Also no.

Here's what we love about it:

  1. It sounds like the buying process was pretty easy (and fun). That’s a great combo for onboarding more people into the Web3 space.

  2. It’s an interesting way to bring something different and unique to a conference (or really any event).

Kind of like a photo booth, where the pictures it prints not only act as a memento, but have resale value as well.

  3. Finally, the charities supported were: Giveth, who fund public goods and services and education in developing nations; and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, who provide specialist nurses to seriously ill children.

...probably should have lead with that one.

(Either way, it's a nice little break from the madness - no?)

Alright, back to it...
