Miami’s NFT drop (coming soon)

Nothing says: “This city is still the most bullish on Web3” than a release of their own NFT project.

And that’s exactly what Miami is doing.

Miami’s Mayor, Francis X. Suarez, shared plans yesterday to release 5,000 NFTs built on Ethereum later this year.

There are 56 NFTs being designed, each by a different local artist, representing the city’s 56 square mile radius.

But they’re not going at this alone...

They’ve recruited TIME, Mastercard and Salesforce to help with the strategy and execution of the project.

Here’s why this is a big brain move:

  • It furthers the narrative Mayor Suarez has been pushing for a while now - Miami is crypto friendly and anyone who wants to build or invest in crypto should move there.

  • On a similar note, it shows Miami is a Web3 innovation hub.

  • Finally, for financial reasons. If this project is successful, it could bring in thousands, if not millions, of dollars; while setting a new blueprint for how cities can get involved with Web3.

The NFT drop is planned for a December launch, after the Ethereum Merge.

Until then, we’ll just keep staring out the window at this billboard in San Francisco.
