Now for something light, fun, and cool.

Back in November last year, we wrote about Nike's big push into Web3 and the announcement of their .Swoosh (pronounced 'dot-swoosh') community.

In that article, we wrote: "Nike has said that customers will have the opportunity to become co-creators of the digital apparel (and share in royalties for sales)."

And that's exactly what's gone down ✅

Nike ran a competition for their .Swoosh community to come up with designs for their new "Our Force 1" (aka 'OF1') collection with the community voting on the top four designs.

The Nike team then collaborated with the designers to bring their visions to life as NFTs.

There are some interesting things going on with this project (and we love it).

For example, each virtual sneaker box is priced at $19.82 USD, in honor of the classic Nike shoe, the 'Air Force 1’s' debut year.

However, they are only accepting credit cards, and not accepting crypto.

The idea being that they're at a cheap enough price point for most people to get access to, and making payment for the NFTs so easy that the user experience is practically the same as buying a pair of shoes on Amazon.

We've harped on about the importance of community in NFTs plenty of times - and, while this is just the beginning, the collaborative designs and voting concept are perfect examples of how to engage and involve online communities.

Nike seems to be taking a long term, strategic entrance into Web3.

Could this be the next blueprint for other big brands with global audiences like Nike's?
