One of America's largest universities now offers a Bitcoin course

Texas A&M, one of America's largest universities, pumps out a decent amount of sports stars.

...but we might be about to see a 'Revenge Of The Nerds' type situation, where Bitcoin programmers start to outshine the jocks.

Ray Korok will be teaching the university's first ever Bitcoin programming class, where students will learn to “build a Bitcoin library from scratch.”

Don't know what a Bitcoin library is? Neither did we.

Basically, it's a collection of prewritten code that programmers can use to optimize their coding tasks.

(The same way that Photoshop is a collection of prewritten code that lets users optimize their photo editing tasks).

Getting the course approved by the curriculum committee body didn't come easy - according to Ray K "It took months to get this class approved, but we made it!"

Hard won or not - a university the size of Texas A&M, offering a Bitcoin focused course?

This does big things for legitimizing blockchain technology.

And could do even bigger things for the future adoption/development of Bitcoin itself.
