Solana's beer market rally (not a typo)
Is this deeply important, market moving news?
No, it is not.
It's more of a 'fun conversation starter.'
And it's perfect for those whose friends and family are pretty damn tired of being on the receiving end of random, un-solicited, Ted-Talk-esque rants, that preach the power of blockchain technology.
(Dad, if you're reading this: there will be no more Michael Saylor videos over dinner - and that's a promise).
Alright, here's what's happening:
There’s a Solana smartphone, a Solana physical store - and now, as of last Friday, a Solana beer.
But unlike the phone and store before it, the 'Solana Summer Shandy' isn't coming from the Solana creators themselves.
Instead, the beer is coming from BarrelDAO - a brewery that is governed by token holders:
Users buy into BarrelDAO → get tokens in return → and are able to vote on how the brewery spends its money.
If, at this point in the conversation, you wanted to get on your soap box and start preaching about the broader applications of Web3 technology - here's how we'd do it:
We'd point to the fact that Web3 technology doesn't need to exist in a bubble.
That BeerDAO is a prime example of how blockchain technology can be applied to centuries old businesses.
That DAOs allow passionate communities to not only rally around existing businesses, but to profit from them too.
But hey, if it's going to get you banned from family dinners, maybe leave it at 'Solana made a beer.'
