'That's it, go to your room!' - Bitcoin core contributor, to maximalists
Did you ever have a childhood argument with a friend or sibling, that drove your parents to breaking point?
You know the kind of argument we're talking about...
The kind that was highly volatile, emotionally charged, and always - always - over something incredibly stupid, like:
'Who would win in a fight - a velociraptor or a grizzly bear?'
At a certain point your parents would crack under the weight of your constant bickering, telling you to:
"Quit it. It's a stupid argument to be having in the first place.
...they both evolved in different environments to serve different purposes. Now, eat your dinner."
That same scenario just played out in the Bitcoin community (minus the dinner bit).
Matt Corallo, a Bitcoin core contributor (aka someone who helped code Bitcoin), just cracked it at Bitcoin maximalists (aka BTC diehards), telling them their 'Bitcoin is best,' us-vs-them attitude is no longer valid:
The general message being:
There are other projects outside of Bitcoin that serve different purposes, which have proven themselves as valid. If you keep slinging mud at them, they're going to find ways to throw it right back at you.
It's not productive and it'll only damage the growth of the technology.
Will anyone listen? Our guess is: probably not - at least, not yet.
When crypto becomes more of a background tool in the lives of many, instead of a semi-religion in the lives of a few? Sure.
In the meantime, things might stay a little biblical.
