The World’s Most Hated Gaming Company Is Entering the Most Hated segment...and We’re All for It!

TL;DR

  • Ubisoft (makers of Assassin's Creed and Just Dance) and Immutable are joining forces to develop a new blockchain game that will involve “digital ownership.”

  • Digital ownership will be at the core of this game, like crypto elements, NFTs and more digital assets.

  • Unfortunately in Web3 gaming, too much focus is often put on the blockchain enabled elements, and not enough on the gameplay.

  • adoption of blockchain tech probably won't do much to help Web3 gaming's image within the broader market, but, we're still excited to play this title.

Full Story

Chevy’s Aunt Ellis (recently known for her beanie baby addiction) tried to set up our intern, Kevin, with her physical therapist.

Kevin was...unamused.

He said he is looking for the:

"Eve to his Adam"

Or

"Cleopatra to his Mark Antony"

While Kevin has a face for radio and should probably lower his standards, we also get where he's coming from - we love a timeless partnership!

It's the same reason this latest announcement from Ubisoft (makers of Assassin's Creed and Just Dance) and Immutable, caught our eye.

The two companies are joining forces to develop a new blockchain game that will involve “digital ownership.”

Here's what's cool about it...

While Ubisoft and Immutable haven't said a ton about the actual game itself, they have emphasized two points that piqued our interest:

  • Digital ownership will be at the core of this game, like crypto elements, NFTs and more digital assets.

  • Ubisoft mentioned their excitement for players' ability to focus on the fun in this game - which sounds like a no-brainer...

But, unfortunately in Web3 gaming, too much focus is often put on the blockchain enabled elements, and not enough on the gameplay.

So an emphasis on fun is welcomed.

Here's what's not-so-cool about it...

If we had to summarize the most common complaints about Web3 gaming, it'd probably boil down to this:

"Most titles are un-imaginative cash grabs, and are often buggy-as-hell."

What's 'not-so-cool' is that Ubisoft garners many of the same complaints!

So its adoption of blockchain tech probably won't do much to help Web3 gaming's image within the broader market.

All of that said...we don't care!

We're still excited to play this title.
