Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, but in the metaverse…

Who did you want to be when you grew up?

For us, it was Tony Hawk.

(A skate God AND a video game mogul? Forget about it).

And now it looks like we're going to be able to take that fandom with us, into Web3.

Mr. Hawk has just announced a partnership with The Sandbox and Autograph, to create the largest virtual skatepark ever made.

Autograph, founded by Tom Brady, will create avatar NFTs based on Tony Hawk and his most iconic skateboards, equipment, and apparel.

The Sandbox will then bring these NFTs to life in its open metaverse, turning Autograph’s high-fidelity avatars into 3D voxel versions that have unique in-game functionality.

Here’s why this is cool:

  1. It's essentially Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, in the metaverse.

  2. Tony is widely considered the skateboarding G.O.A.T, with a huge fan base - many of whom have been with him since he nailed the 900 at the X Games, in 1999.

And when celebrities pull moves like this, their fans often follow.

Here's the math on that last bit:

(Celebrities x nostalgia) + a new product category = uptake.

If you need us, we'll be signing up for the waiting list.
