Back when the iPhone came out, there was a lot of chatter centered around gaming.

Basically, folks were gazing into their crystal balls and predicting that casual mobile gaming was going to take over the gaming industry.

It didn't.

Sure, mobile gaming was an absolute hit (at least as far as revenue was concerned), but it never replaced triple-a console gaming.

This was for the same reason straight-to-television film making never replaced blockbuster productions:

We (as consumers) love big budget productions!
