In today's "Ummm...what? No...seriously? I don't follow...how am I just hearing of this??" news...
Sam Bankman-Fried's younger brother, Gabe, was working on a plan to:
Purchase the sovereign island nation of Nauru
Use it to construct a 'bunker/shelter' that would be used for ‘some event where 50% - 99.99% of people die.'
And build a lab that worked on genetically enhancing humans (you know, between now and the apocalypse).
Oh and of course - he wanted to use money from FTX to do so.
This all came out late last month in a court filing, after the current leadership team of FTX filed a new suit against Sam Bankman-Fried, and three other former executives, for misappropriating $1B worth of FTX funds.
...and like with each new twist in the FTX saga, it brings more questions than answers - like:
What the hell was being put in the water in the Bankman-Fried household?
How does one even go about purchasing a sovereign nation state?
What would that cost?
