Taylor Swift Needs an NFT Series, ASAP. Here’s Why...

Article source, here.

TL;DR

  • Taylor Swift doesn't have her own NFT series to combat scalpers price gouging her tickets on the resale market, but Avenged Sevenfold do!

  • Basically, fans that own one of A7x's 'Deathbats Club' NFTs get first dibs on tickets. Which means they get to select the best seats, at the best prices.

  • Whereas previously, they'd have had to compete with automated bots, set up by scalpers, who then sell them back to the real fans at INSANE prices.

  • Which is exactly what happened to Taylor Swift fans last year, when tickets to her Eras Tour were being resold by scalpers for up to $22K!

What's the difference between Taylor Swift and Avenged Sevenfold?

Well, for starters, Avenged Sevenfold haven't featured in Chevy's Spotify Wrapped, without fail, for the past 6 years.

Another key difference: Taylor Swift doesn't have her own NFT series to combat scalpers price gouging her tickets on the resale market.

Avenged Sevenfold (aka A7x) do.

If you don't know A7x, they're a metal(ish) band that this guy would have had on heavy rotation, had he known about them in 2004.

(And yes, your assumptions are correct - that's a homemade KISS t-shirt).

But what's all this about NFTs and price gouging?

Well, A7x have partnered with Ticketmaster to token gate their ticket sales.

Basically, fans that own one of A7x's 'Deathbats Club' NFTs get first dibs on tickets.

Which means they get to select the best seats, at the best prices.

Whereas previously, they'd have had to compete with automated bots, set up by scalpers. Scalpers that want to buy out all of the best seats, then sell them back to the real fans at INSANE prices.

(Which is exactly what happened to Taylor Swift fans last year, when tickets to her Eras Tour were being resold by scalpers for up to $22K!).

Here's why this gets us excited:

A lot of the stuff we talk about in this here newsletter focuses on how Web3 technology could be used.

Not how it's currently being used.

Why? Because we still so darn early! These things take a minute to be adopted.

But today we get to break that trend, and see how - in realtime - NFTs are being used to nurture and reward fandom.

It's pretty freakin' cool!
