The oldest question in Bitcoin’s history

There’s an exciting new trend forming: films are being successfully funded through the sale of NFTS.

Last year, $1.9M was raised for ‘Ethereum: The Infinite Garden,’ and more recently, Camila Russo’s book, ‘The Infinite Machine,’ received funding to be adapted for the big screen - all funded through NFTs.

It was just announced that a new film is looking to do the same thing.

This time, it’s about the creator of Bitcoin - ‘Satoshi Nakamoto.’

For those of you playing at home, ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ is the name used by the pseudonymous creator/s of Bitcoin. They created the Bitcoin Whitepaper, and designed the first blockchain database.

Some fast facts about Satoshi:

  • They’re believed to hold ~5% of all Bitcoin (worth billions)

  • Satoshi was involved in the Bitcoin community until mid-2010 and then disappeared

  • Their Bitcoin hasn’t moved since 2010

While there are many theories out there, it’s still unclear who the person, or group of people, behind the technology is.

(Which is kind of genius when it comes to trust in the coin).

The new movie which will be titled: “I Am Not Satoshi,” aims to provide a complete look at the search to date around who Satoshi might be.

It will also explore why it might be better for Satoshi to remain unknown.

The funding method - through NFTs - is exciting and makes sense for a topic like this.

While the NFT funded films we mentioned above, have so far all been focused on topics related to crypto, that doesn’t have to be the case.

Our hope/expectation is that, the same way visual art paved the way for NFTs becoming mainstream, films focused on crypto will pave the way for more varying productions to be funded through the blockchain.

Either way, we’ll be watching!
