'The Oscars of the crypto world' is about to be a thing.
In today's 'hey, this could be cool' news:
Web3 is getting its own version of The Oscars, with an awards ceremony called The Crypties (ha!).
On the surface, it seems a little cute (and maybe even a little dumb?) - but it plays into a core human desire that could push innovation in the space.
Here's what we're on about:
Did you know the majority of people would prefer a title upgrade, over a pay rise?
E.g. Most folks would prefer to go from being known as, say, 'Head of I.T.' to 'Chief Technology Officer' (with no change in responsibility or pay) - than they would get a raise and stay as 'Head of I.T.'
Which tells us that status is very important to a lot of people.
This lends itself to the idea that rewarding bold and exciting developments in the Web3 space, with community status symbols (like a Cryptie Award), could actually do a lot to push the industry forward.
(Or maybe we just need to get more sleep?)
But hey - it's fun to ponder!
