The next player enters Web3 social media.

Did you know that there are over 300 million social media creators in the world?

(Defined as people who have generated some sort of income from their creative work on social media).

Neither!

There's a new social platform - Virtualness - launching in early 2023 that is specifically focused on allowing creators to monetize their following through Web3.

Not only will creators be able to sell their content (in NFT form), the big focus is on allowing them to create customized experiences that fans can purchase to support the creators, and enjoy unique experiences along the way.

This is cool; the team is epic (i.e. former Managing Director of Facebook India & South Asia, and former Vice President at Viacom Group & Star India); and they've just raised $8M from a nice mix of Web3 funds, startup investors and creators (like Nas Daily).

The major benefit of decentralized social is letting creators own their data.

If Virtualness can figure out how early adopters - the people who actually create the content that ultimately becomes the valuable part of the platform - can be rewarded by monetizing their following, it'll be a huge deal.

Other Web3 social platforms like BitClout have risen, and then come crashing down.

Here's hoping the Virtualness team does something different that catches on!
